In Memoriam…
Pets come in all sizes, shapes, colors and
personalities. When we set about choosing a companion to join our life, we often
base our decisions on superficial characteristics and in some cases, pick them
for all the “wrong” reasons. Yet somehow, by inviting them into our homes,
caring for them, teaching them, laughing over their antics, telling them our
private worries, secrets, fears and hopes, we become a different, and
better, person.
We dedicate
this site to Cricket, our beloved cat, who died suddenly from acute renal
failure. While veterinary medicine has made tremendous strides, and our pets
are living longer and healthier as a consequence, even the best in medicine
cannot always save their lives.
The
following pages are devoted to all those pets that have shared our lives,
sometimes for only a short while, but in doing so, have left a lasting
impact on our souls.

CRICKET
September 19, 1997
– July 12, 2006
Rest
well our dear friend. You brought so much joy and silliness to our lives;
we are saddened that your life was so short, but feel blessed to have shared
the time you had. You will remain in our hearts forever.

Cleo (Miss
Kitten, Ninny Chat)
1993 - December 22, 2009
Lovely Cleo
was a kitty with the utmost decorum, always well-mannered, carefully
groomed, and carrying herself with her tail held high. She was regularly
mistaken for a kitten, a compliment she relished about which she was
rather vain. She was an athlete, a playful and fierce huntress. She was a
friend to cats, dogs, and humans alike. She was tender and protective of
her family. To us, she was perfect.
Dearest Cleo,
we miss your elegant presence,
your tappy toes and victory cries.
Your grace
lives on in our hearts

SASHA
October
14, 1993 - December 2, 2008
On
December 2nd, our beloved companion of 15 years, Sasha, was
peacefully relieved of her old age infirmities.
For
8 years, Sasha was also the Big Sister to her little sister,
Shadow.
Now,
our family of three will mourn, but will also rejoice.
Sasha has been liberated from the discomfort, disability, and
disease she had increasingly come to know these last few months.
We
celebrate her rich, full life, and will always hold her near &
dear in our hearts and treasured memories.
We
love & miss you Sasha! |

SOCKEYE
After 18
years of summer times at an Alaskan coastal fishing camp; of wintertime
toe-warming vigilance for those napping on the couch; of battling the
arch-nemesis Norwegian Forest Cat; and of passionate love-hate emotion for
the Orange Fluff -- Sockeye was lovingly ushered out of her deaf and wobbly
old age at home by kind hearts and gentle hands from Hawthorne Hills
Veterinary Hospital on November 21, 2007. The Kodiak voles don't miss
you
Socks, but we do. |
